Funeral Service

Write the funeral service. Jan will cover the content of each section of the order of service – which sections to include, and what needs to go in them.

Design

Design the content of the funeral or memorial. Jan will take you through the full process ensuring every detail is covered.

Readings

Poems and readings are a lovely way to involve family members, or friends of your loved one, in your ceremony. If you would prefer your celebrant to read them for you that is also absolutely fine. Jan will help you find the right words for you.

Tributes

Jan will give help and advice to family or friends who wish to write and/or deliver tributes designed to truly reflect and celebrate the deceased’s life.

Music

Choosing music for a funeral ceremony is another way to make it personal and unique to your loved one. Jan will help you to choose music for the service.

Cultural

Jan will liaise with those involved in the ceremony and integrate additional cultural or family needs into the service.

I believe that the most important function of a funeral is to bring comfort to those who are left behind, and to mark the transition from the life of this person to life without her/him.

 Sadly, my husband passed away at the beginning of March. The undertaker who took charge sent me a celebrant by the name of Jan Hartfree. My son, daughter and I were so, so thankful for that. Jan is a very caring and compassionate woman, she put us all at ease and made everything so much more bearable. The care and attention she gave us was just what we needed and we managed to meet up with her a few times before my husbands cremation. She put together an excellent service for us and we had several comments after the cremation about how well Jan had arranged everything. She installed herself into our family and we all welcome her with open arms. We could never have asked for anything else. Thank you, Jan. We are so proud of you and all you have done for us.

 Dear Jan I wanted to thank you for all you have done with your support in the preparations for my God Mother's funeral. You were so wonderful last Friday in your role as celebrant with all the lovely words you said. The tributes that you put together conveyed everything about my God Mother so perfectly and I know that she would have approved! Although it was sad for us to say our final farewells, it was lovely to feel that we had celebrated her amazing life through your words, the tributes, photos, readings and poems.
